2022 UAE Information Technology Sector Compensation & Benefits Survey – Insights

10 Nov, 2022

We recently concluded our industry specific survey on the “Information Technology” sector in the UAE covering the entire gamut of jobs ranging from Software Developers (in all its avatars – Frontend, Backend, Full stack, iOS, Android), Tech Leads, DevOps Engineers, Project Managers, IT Engineers, Test Engineers, QA Leads, UI/UX Leads, Software Managers et al.

Besides the specifics of the pay ranges for these jobs and the typical employee benefits in the UAE market, the key findings included some interesting insights. Few of them being as follows:

  • While the last two years of rapid enhancements in the packages of most IT professions/jobs, fueled primarily by the ‘remote work’ and ‘higher technology dependence in doing businesses’ during covid days was clearly evident, the impact of the recent international sluggish sentiments have already started showing up in the region leading to a very cautious approach to salary hikes, hirings and even lower attrition rates.
  • The same IT jobs with same skill set are pegged at very different pay points (pay positioning) by organizations in the country – very often a function of their ‘in-business demands’. We found it relatively more pronounced in this sector compared to other industries where specific pay-positioning or job pricing are often the reference marks.
  • More and more IT firms (and the broader ITES sector including Fintech organizations) are leaning towards flexible pay plans to effectively manage the changing technology landscape and their in-business demands.

Please feel free to reach out to us should you wish to discuss the report in greater depth. We would be happy to exchange ideas on the implications of these findings on the industry, specifically the evolving landscape of rewards and retention practices in the ITES space.
